Université, Refined Comfort in a Contemporary Pied-à-Terre
Project type: Pied à terre
200 sq meters
Renovation and decoration project
Nestled in Paris’s prestigious 7th arrondissement, this 200-square-meter apartment, dating back to the 1880s and just steps from the Eiffel Tower, epitomizes timeless elegance.
Commissioned as a Pied-à-Terre for an East Coast American couple, our design approach seamlessly marries modern comforts with the apartment’s historical grandeur. Drawing inspiration from the property’s heritage and the owners’ love of nature, we embraced a nature-inspired palette, allowing the abundant natural light and surrounding environment to guide our choices. This approach created a harmonious connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces—one of Lichelle’s signature design philosophies.
The apartment underwent a refreshing transformation, including updated paint and wall coverings, refinished floors, and the addition of new hardware and fixtures. A key aspect of our work involved reinstating moldings and architectural details that had been removed during a previous renovation. These additions were seamlessly integrated to set the stage for the decoration, furnishing, and styling that followed.
Embracing the charm of antiques, we carefully curated vintage pieces to infuse the interiors with character and a sense of history. Highlights include an oval mercury mirror and an exquisite dining room chandelier, both sourced from the iconic Marché de Puces, which serve as focal points, exuding timeless elegance and refinement. These antique treasures are juxtaposed with our private-label contemporary furniture collection and bespoke solutions, adding depth and personality to the interiors.
Every element has been thoughtfully chosen to balance comfort and sophistication. Sumptuous velvet textures lend a tactile richness, while the wool and sisal rugs provide a grounded contrast. Layers of linen and silk introduce an additional dimension of sensory interest and refinement.
This Parisian retreat is the embodiment of understated luxury, where timeless charm seamlessly meets contemporary comfort, creating a space that is both elegant and inviting.
